UNK@TT - Universities join forces to translate science into business

On 5 June 2024, the Centre for Development and Knowledge Transfer of the University of Primorska, Faculty of Management (CRPZ UP FM), together with the Knowledge Transfer Office of the University of Ljubljana and the Knowledge Transfer Service of the University of Maribor, participated in the inaugural meeting of the Consortium of University Offices for the Upgrading of Knowledge Transfer Support (UNIK@TT 2024-2029).

The Consortium, composed of representatives of all three public universities in Slovenia, is committed to improving the transfer of scientific achievements to the economy and society. The aim of the consortium is to support researchers and students in the transfer of scientific achievements, thus strengthening the role of universities in the Slovenian and global innovation ecosystem. The University Consortium will also work closely with another consortium linking research institutes: the Jožef Stefan Institute, the National Institute of Biology, the Chemical Institute of Slovenia, the Faculty of Information Studies, the Slovenian Institute of Gelogy, the Institute of Metal Materials and Technologies, the Institute of Chemistry, the Building Research Institute of Slovenia, Rudolfovo, and the Koper Science and Research Centre.

The Centre for Development and Knowledge Transfer (CRPZ UP FM) leads two key working groups: the Working Group on the Development of Knowledge Valorisation Criteria and the Working Group on Non-Technological Innovation and Interdisciplinary Cooperation. The five-year project will include a number of workshops, trainings, mentoring and other related events, to which employees, students, companies, NGOs, experts, innovators and the media will be invited.

The project, co-funded by the IGCI with €2,150,000, will enable more efficient transfer of knowledge from academia to business and strengthen the role of universities in the innovation ecosystem.
